How to Participate

Following this list allows teams to get a solid start to the case competition

Step One: Register for the competition. Registration remains open until the end of the qualifying round.
Step Two: Complete the qualifying round. This round takes only 1-2 hours of time. It may be completed any time before 11:59 p.m. local time, February 12, 2013.

This portion of the competition may be done as an individual if you cannot find a teammate. If you qualify for the competition, the Washington Media Scholars Foundation will match you with a suitable partner for the competition.

Step Three:  Check out our suggested reading list for information on media planning and special election voter targeting and/or find a professor to mentor you through the process.
Step Four: When the case is released on February 19, read through the documents and hold your first “team meeting” to create an action list and delegate tasks.
Step Five: Ask questions. Once a week we engage with all registered students, providing an email answering all case competition questions received over the past seven days. The authors of the strongest media plans participated fully in this exercise.
Step Six: Submit your media plan by 11:59 p.m. local time, March 20, 2013.
Step Seven: The finalists are selected and invited to Media Scholars Week in Washington, DC (April 2013).
